We are looking for a coding and robotics tutor to join our team!


Vacancies: 3:30pm to 4:30pm Tuesday Campbells Bay - filled.

3:30pm to 4:30pm Tuesday Northcote Primary - open/pending.

To start at Term 3 (22 July) and going until the end of September for the right candidate. Opportunity for more on-going work available for the following term 4. We are an educational engineering company developing technology education solutions for school through use of physical platforms of electronics and robotics. The purpose of the position is the teaching and delivery of technology programmes for after school tuition to school age children, groups being age 5 to 7, or 7 to 10. Vetting check by the NZ Police will be required, if you are not comfortable with this, please do not apply. Task and responsibilities:

  • Preparation of class equipment – including all robotic kits materials, laptops, software, printed documentation, furniture arrangement.

  • Deliver the prescribed industrial based curriculum developed to the class.

  • Assist in troubleshooting in the event that any participant is stuck.

  • Always ensure that our mantra “A for Attitude” is maintained by participants.

  • Cleanliness and housekeeping – i.e. benches and floors. All work areas should be “clinical”.

Qualification:

  • Interest in robotics and mechanics, ideally with Makeblock platform (Arduino).

  • Coding via Scratch 2.0 (developed by MIT)

The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert at coding, the right attitude and the ability to work with young children safely is the most important thing. If you are new to the country, you must have lived in NZ for at least 12 months in order to apply because then if the police check run on you will represent your activities over the last year. The New Zealand police may not be able to get police checks from other countries. We take the safety of our students seriously. Australian Citizens or people who have lived in Australia for the last 12 months do not need to be in New Zealand more than 12 months as New Zealand police will be able to obtain a police check from Australia. Hourly rate dependent on how many consecutive hours you work, to partially compensate your transportation costs.
